Its Spring time here in Canada and the Ice has melted! The lakes are warming up. I feel the excitement starting to build as another Canadian tournament season is coming quickly starting at Big Rideau Lake One of Canada’s premiere bass Fisheries.

I can’t help but reminisce last Septembers FLW Canada Championships that were held here, where the young superstars won their way against Canada’s finest. To win the championships, then Making it into the Costa Series Championships at Kentucky Lake, In the International Division.  Qualifying for a shot at the Forest Wood Cup.

I wish them all the best and I’m sure they will make us proud.

I can’t think back to last year and not chuckle! I was lucky to spend a day with the always jubilant Chris Jones of FLW Fame Mr. 5 Bass Limit was our guest MC for the 2016 Finals; I have to share the experience.

I picked up Chris from the hotel and we went for a McDonalds Breakfast, only the best for my friend, who I knew well from fishing the FLW Tour on the U.S. side. We had shared some laughs even a heartbreaking moment at Lake Okeechobee.

So off to the lake we went we went out to catch up with the top ten teams and do some interviews it was great, Chris and I were just like old pals joking around and having an awesome day. I was telling Chris he absolutely had to try a true Canadian classic food POUTINE I think he thought it was something out of this world, but was willing to try.

After the crowning of the winners, I pulled him aside and said come on lets go it’s time for POUTINE! It was amazing we found a small little restaurant by the water. I ordered then we bumped into the Champs Cooper Gallant and Danny McGarry having what else but a victory Poutine!

It was awesome to see the excitement and the enthusiasm these boys had towards Chris, a true gentleman and all round great guy, telling them about how awesome their victory was, and there road to the Forest Wood Cup.

I can’t wait for the season to start. To those Canadians fishing south of the border good luck and you have already made us proud to be Canadian Bass Anglers.
